Fix Corrupted Microsoft Office files
As recently mentioned in one of my blog articles. I found some interesting tools to fix various types of corrupted files. Today I’m going through the typical error that you might find. In this article I’ve created a an Access database but you could try the same with any of the following:
- Outlook .pst files
- Excel spreadsheets
- Word documents
- Photo files on camera’s
I started with the creation of an Access database using Access 2016. And I corrupted the database using notepad.
When I open the database file I’m getting quite quickly an error:
Unrecognized database format
Well that was easy!
No I’ll try and fix it.
First I’m downloading AccessFix
Then when I click on the downloaded file I can select my preferred language.
I’m selecting English, but the installer is also available in
- German
- Spanish
- French
- Italian
- Dutch
- Portuguese (Brazilian)
After a Next , I Agree, Next and Install AccessFix is installed within seconds.
Well that is also easy.
Then I tried to run the Application:
I click on the green start button.
And I click on Recover
When I now click on View my tables are back
Conclusions
Pros:
- Easy to install
- Does the job
- Easy to use interface
- Preview if your corruption can be fixed or not before purchasing the product.
Cons:
- The trial doesn’t let you save the file
