Office 365 – GPDR Activity hub -> Are you panicking yet?

Many organisations are really worried about GDPR. Did you know that if you deal with any company inside the EU that GDPR is relevant to you? Are you ready for it?

In this post I’m going to have a look at the GDPR Activity hub as it has been developed by the Community driven PnP team. But before I’m having a look at the GDPR Activity hub I’ll sumarise sopme of the GDPR facts:

  • The GDPR will apply from 25 May 2018
  • The reporting of a databreach is not subject to any de minimis standard and must be reported to the Supervisory Authority within 72 hours!
  • A fine up to 20.000.000 euro!

And there is a lot more!

Also have a look at the PnP Webcast recorded yesterday:

So now that you are interested in saving yourself 20.000.000 euro, I’ll have a look at the GDPR Activity hub.

First I started with the setup of the GDPR Activity Hub.

During the setup make sure that you have the latest version of the SharePoint Online Management Shell installed. At my first attempt of configuring the solution I got some error messages , which I could have avoided.

Anyway once I got the hub created and I added my SPFx web parts all appeared to be working.

Within less than no time I got the PowerBI Dash board up that shows be all my Data requests, Data breaches, and Identity Risks.

The nice thing about this application is that the solution uses all the cool technology that is currently introduced by Microsoft. So even if you aren’t interested in GDPR. Then you will still see technology like:

  • PowerBI
  • Office UI Fabric
  • SPFx
  • React
  • Modern SharePoint sites

So get started with this today! If you need any help getting the solution deployed or if you want additional functionality added feel free to contact me at triad or leave a comment below.

  1. Hi,
I found your blog with google when I was searching for my problem with GDPR Activity hub.

I installed solution without any error. I’ve created pages and put webparts on them. But when try to add any event with those pages the save button doesn’t work. I mean that when data is filled in, save button become active, but when I pressed it nothing happen.
I put detailed problem description on project GitHub

    • Hi Tomasz, It looking at the url in the bad request, it looks like your list name isn’t set. Can you go to the web part properties and check if any of the web part properties are not configured correctly. My first guess is that a list name is incorrect or something else is going wrong with the list name.
